How to ensure the management of your sickness absence is done effectively...

1. Have a robust sickness absence policy - we can help you accurately track the levels of sickness absence throughout your organisation. This information is vital. We will then help with analysis, reporting and give advice to help you with the management of sickness absence, efficiently and effectively.
2. Our health specialist will advise on a range of practical medical matters, give advice and support. Let us help you ensure quicker recovery and an early return to good health – and to work.

Employees being referred to us for occupational health assessments will be contacted by the health specialist to arrange an appointment date. This can be at our Glasgow clinic or at their home, whichever suits your employee. The assessments will be carried out and a report sent direct to you with recommendations of what you should do next and a likely timescale for the persons' return to work. We will constantly be in contact with you. You will, with the employees consent, be informed of any diagnosis and recommendations for the employee returning to work.

The law

You will also be advised in the report as to whether the employees' illness is covered under the Disability Discrimination Act.

It is becoming more common for employees to be off work with work related stress. Your company has a legal obligation under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 to assess the risk of stress-related ill health arising from work and, under the Health and Safety at Work (etc.) Act 1974, and do what is necessary to ensure the risk is reduced where possible.

Referring these employees through occupational health services can help relieve the pressure of risk assessing.

Fit for life

And it doesn't end there! We can also offer services which help with the fitness of all your employees. Our Personal trainers can give one to one fitness advice and training. Nutrition and mobility plans can also be supplied. Because this service is suitable for individuals of all fitness levels and lifestyles no one is left out. We can write individual health programs for anyone and help them reach optimum health and fitness and providing an essential element in a complete wellness program.

Pre employment surveys

In addition to Occupational Health Services we can also assess prospective employees before they begin working for you. A questionnaire is given to all new employees along with their ‘conditional’ offer of employment from you. This will ensure that any new employees are fit for the post they have been recruited for. If there are any answers supplied on the pre employment form which would raise a doubt as to the fitness of a person, we will assess the candidate’s fitness for work before they start their employment with you.

Lowery Health and Wellness, Glasgow, will analyse your current sickness absence policy and make educated suggestions as to where this can be improved.
In addition, our health specialist will deal with any long term issues you are unsure of.
Posture assessments and re-alignments can help with any back or physical illnesses which may be plaguing staff.
Health and safety checks on desks, seats and other areas of the office can also be checked to ensure staff are being giving the correct equipment to succeed in their every day business. It’s mad to think staff may be off sick with back ache because of the seat you supplied them with.

Don't let your company be among the UK statistics that show poor management of sickness absence.
